$50 million to speed discoveries for patients

The School of Medicine has received a $50 million grant to help speed the translation of scientific discoveries into improvements in human health. The grant supports the School of Medicine’s Institute of Clinical and Translational Sciences, led by Bradley A. Evanoff, MD.

Filmmaker Burns to receive WUSTL’s International Humanities Medal

Over the course of 30-plus years and more than 20 documentaries, Ken Burns’ films have illuminated the country’s past and brought history to life. For these lasting contributions, Burns will receive WUSTL’s International Humanities Medal. The event, on Friday, Nov. 16, includes a preview and commentary on his upcoming films.

Water on moon is topic of Walker lecture 

Maria Zuber, PhD, a professor of geophysics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, will deliver the fifth annual Robert M. Walker Distinguished Lecture at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, in Room 100 in Whitaker Hall. During the free, public lecture, she will discuss new information about water on the moon.

Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company coming to Edison Theatre

Groundbreakers Bill T. Jones and Arnie Zane had a 17-year partnership — ending with Zane’s death in 1988 — that was arguably the most productive in contemporary dance. On Nov. 16-17, the company they formed will return to St. Louis with Body Against Body, a retrospective of innovative duets.

NCAA lauds alumna Phillips  with Top 10 Award

Biomedical engineering graduate Elizabeth Phillips, 2012 NCAA Woman of the Year recipient, was selected as an NCAA Today’s Top 10 Award winner for excellence in athletics and academics. The track and field standout is one of the most recognized WUSTL athletes.
